With homage to the story of Icarus, This Way Up is a tale of a man so trapped within the self inflicted restraints dictated by modern life, that when he comes across something truly fantastic he cant see past his humdrum routine to appreciate it.
This Way Up is a short film I created in my spare time and at University. The film started its life as my student film at Southampton Solent University but I continued to work on it after I graduated and finished it in August 2016.
Quite a few scenes for This Way Up were shot in my bedroom with barley enough room for my tripod between my bed and the set. I slept next to and sometimes under a pile of cardboard horded as construction material. Here is a time-lapse of the day/night I finally got my room back.
Some illustrations and animation made for the Skateboarding group The Chip Shop Army.
In 2014 I volunteered to work for the Street Child World Cup in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. To raise money for the event I made this promotional video of a sponsored head shave and also sold limited edition T-Shirts, screen-printed and designed by myself.
